As a teacher I loved using newspapers in my classroom. It was authentic reading, the kids felt grown-up, it brought the community and the world into my class, and I knew it would build life-long readers and learners.

Through the years I learned what myself and other teachers wanted from the newspaper:

A top quality children’s page to

use as a hook to get students interested in the newspaper.

  • We did not want an unrelated dot-to-dot or color sheet buried somewhere on page 12.

  • We did not want a separate pullout.

  • We wanted a section of the paper just for kids.

When I was unable to find exactly what I wanted, I designed my own:

FUN-N-FACTS FOR BRAIN-IACS!
